The Nantucket Land & Water Council is excited to present the final edition of our summer virtual series: Clean Water – Topics on Tap presented by Donelan Family Wines. Each month from June through September, the NLC has hosted a special guest speaker for our live virtual webinar, who will present on a water quality topic followed by a live Q&A.
September’s guest is Graeme Durovich, Recycling and Solid Waste Coordinator for the Town of Nantucket DPW. This month’s topic is “Coastal Plastics – “Nearshore Problems, Island Solutions”. Graeme will discuss the research that the Town DPW and UMASS Boston began in 2019 to investigate the presence of coastal plastics on our beaches and nearshore environment. She will also talk about the Nantucket Plastics Ban and how we can all get involved in protecting our oceans.
