For the last three years, the Town of Nantucket’s Shell Recycling Program has collected 65,000 pounds of oyster and quahog shells from local restaurants and raw bars. They finally have enough shell to begin the restoration project and they are looking for volunteers. This is will a tough but rewarding job.
